at Land O' Lakes on Friday night.

A picture is worth a thousand words, so, need we say more?

HUDSON TEEN WWE CONTEST WINNER!

Posted by Pasco County Library System

Zach, one of our very own teens, is a grand prize winner of the WWE’s Summer Slam Reading Jam! Now he and his mom will have an all expense paid trip to Los Angeles, California for the Pay-Per-View Summer Slam event on August 23rd and $200 spending money. Plus, the Friends of the Hudson Library will receive a check from the WWE for $1000 for library books and materials for the teens.

Zach simply checked out some books from the Hudson Library sometime between June 24th and July 16th. He received a WWE mini-poster with a poster number from the library. On July 18th, Zach checked the WWE website for the winning numbers.

Hudson Library was one of the five hundred libraries participating in the sweepstakes. All of the libraries in the Pasco County Library System participated. Each library received 25 numbered mini-posters for teen ages 10 to 18 years who checked out at least 2 books. Zach had a 1 in 1,042 chance of winning!

Congratulations Zach!

And the Winner is....Rockin' Rainbow!

Posted by Pasco County Library System

You did it! You completed your goal of reading a total of 1000 books (actually 1230) for the Summer Reading Program, which means, Miss Alicia will be dyeing her hair as she promised! You voted and the winning color is "Rockin' Rainbow."

Be the first to see Miss Alicia's new hairdo by coming to the Land O' Lakes Library SRC Final Party if you completed your reading commitment and logged in your six books. It promises to be a great time!

7/15@6pm-HE Open Mic & Cafe Night

Posted by Pasco County Library System

This week we’re changing gears at Hugh Embry! Instead of having the second half of the Graphic Novel workshop, we’re doing an open mic and café night. Want snacks? How about café food? And … we’ll have fun too! Bring your music (if you have a guitar, bring that too). Bring your stories (scary or otherwise). Bring your poems (even a poetry slam). Bring your songs and your jokes (if you have any). We’ll have a karaoke machine ready at the quick! Anything you can do on a mic, you’ll have that chance on Wednesday!

Oh! And if you don’t want to stand in front of the mic, we’ll have tablecloths of craft paper so you can draw, paint or whatever you want to do. Note: Last week our teens made books during our Summer Reading Club program. Some were graphic novels, while others were just words on paper. Still, others were just pictures. The teens did SO GOOD they finished their books early. Their books even had a cover. Too Cool!!! If you didn’t get your chance to make this book, come on Wednesday @ 6 p.m. We’ll set you up, while listening to the other teens on the mic.

Remember! This is YOUR night!

Who: All Teens, grades 6 - 12
What: Open Mic and Cafe Night
When: Wednesday, July 15th
Where: Hugh Embry Library
Time: 6 -8 p.m.

$50 CONTEST! Cornification of the Teen Page!

Posted by Pasco County Library System

Yes, our web designer has gone crazy! Rather than locking him up, we have decided to make a contest out of his insanity!

Five links on our Teen Page have been cornified. That means that instead of the link working properly, unicorns and rainbows will randomly appear on the page. They look much like these:

So, your goal is to search through every link on the Library's Teen Page and find the 5 cornified links. Then, post a comment on this blog entry with your name, e-mail or MySpace address, and the 5 links where you found the cornification. We will have a random drawing from among all the correct answers on August 14th. The winner will receive a $50 Best Buy Gift Card, courtesy of the Friends of the Library. Don't share the answers with others, or you reduce your chances of winning. Good luck and happy unicorn searching!

WWE SummerSlam Contest!

Posted by Pasco County Library System

Want to win two tickets to this year's WWE SummerSlam event on August 23rd in L.A.? All you have to do is be one of the first 25 teens/tweens (ages 10-18) to check out two or more books at any of the Pasco County libraries between June 24th and July 16th and you could win. Posters featuring Rey Mysterio, Evan Bourne, Beth Phoenix, and Eve will be given out to everyone who checks out 2+ books until each library runs out. Only one poster per person, regardless of the number of times you check out books.

So, how does this poster help you win? Well, there is a number on the bottom right corner of every poster. On Friday, July 17, two poster numbers will be drawn determining the grand prize winners along with alternate poster numbers, all of which will be posted on WWEKids.com. The two grand prize winners will win airfare to Los Angeles for two, two nights’ hotel, two tickets and $200 spending money for WWE’s SummerSlam pay-per-view event on Sunday, August 23, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Ten first prize winners will win copies of the WWE Encyclopedia. See the official rules online (PDF) for complete info.

Seem easy enough? Just come in between June 24 and July 16 (or while supplies last) and check out 2 or more books to enter. You won't see much better odds of winning a prize like this.
