The never-ending quest to find the mythical uber-swords Soul Edge and Soul Calibur continues. Atop the Tower of Lost Souls, a warrior turned power-hungry maniac named Algol awakens from a slumber that lasted a few centuries long...
“I don’t spread rumors, I create them.” – Lucian Lachance
You’ll find Lucian and many other “colorful” characters in Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion. Oblivion is an open world western RPG available on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC...
Character attacks and movements flow very well, and are still quite over the top; really, it’s NEVER tiring to watch your opponent fly head over heels about 20 feet in the air after a good upward slash....
The game sticks to the same heroes and same time period and there are still lots of nameless drones to get through but its much more complex than the previous incarnations. Throwing in a bit of RPG flair...
The graphics while nice are a real step down from games like God of War, Crisis Core, and other recent PSP games. This game seems to have dug an even deeper hole in the Uncanny Valley. If Wolverine really looked like that I’d recommend...
The game takes the traditional “Save the World” RPG story and gives it a fresh new twist. Yes, the world is about to end in this game as well, the difference is that your task isn’t to save it, no one can, its been decided the world is too far gone. No, your task is to record anything of interest in a book...
During the course of the game you’ll have the opportunity to join a few different factions. Whether you’re a warrior, a wizard, a thief or a cold-blooded assassin there’s a guild for you. Joining guilds not only gives you a variety of different quests it also offers quite a few perks...
As you scan people you’ll be able to read about their likes, their dislikes, and their ‘aspirations’. At first most people’s aspirations will show question marks but as you befriend them by talking to them, doing tasks for them...
Not to mention that due to the Civil War story line I won't be able to be ANY of my usual characters since eventually you'll have to choose a side and its a given we'll be on Deadpool's side...
The game boasts beautiful and sufficiently “Next Gen” graphics. There really is nothing quite like standing high on a mountain and looking across rolling hills, valleys, and woods towards the walls of the Imperial City and the majestic white tower in its center...

This week we’re changing gears at Hugh Embry!Instead of having the second half of the Graphic Novel workshop, we’re doing an open mic and café night. Want snacks? How about café food? And … we’ll have fun too!Bring your music (if you have a guitar, bring that too). Bring your stories (scary or otherwise). Bring your poems (even a poetry slam). Bring your songs and your jokes (if you have any). We’ll have a karaoke machine ready at the quick! Anything you can do on a mic, you’ll have that chance on Wednesday!
Oh! And if you don’t want to stand in front of the mic, we’ll have tablecloths of craft paper so you can draw, paint or whatever you want to do.Note: Last week our teens made books during our Summer Reading Club program. Some were graphic novels, while others were just words on paper. Still, others were just pictures. The teens did SO GOOD they finished their books early. Their books even had a cover. Too Cool!!!If you didn’t get your chance to make this book, come on Wednesday @ 6 p.m. We’ll set you up, while listening to the other teens on the mic.
Remember! This is YOUR night!
Who: All Teens, grades 6 - 12 What: Open Mic and Cafe Night When: Wednesday, July 15th Where: Hugh Embry Library Time: 6 -8 p.m.
Where did the summer go? This is our last SRC event for teens at Land O' Lakes until the final party/ lock-in in August. Are you an aspiring artist that could use $1,000 cash? The Woot! t-shirt website http://shirt.woot.com has a weekly (yes, every week) contest to design an original t-shirt based on a theme and a set of rules. Any mode of 2-D art is accepted accept for photographs, including hand-drawn & scanned, computer designed, and digital sketching.
A new theme is posted by Woot! every Friday at noon. You just have to create an account and post your design any time after 12pm. You can post as many as you like. The world then gets to vote on all the submitted designs all week until Thursday at noon. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the winning shirts are sold online, one per day, and the winning designers each get $1,000. So, if you don't win the first time, try again. You can use pretty much any method to get people to the site to vote for your shirt designs.
Check out the link above for the main site. For the full list of all their rules and an FAQ on everything else about the site, check out http://shirt.woot.com/WhatIsWoot.aspx
Yes, our web designer has gone crazy! Rather than locking him up, we have decided to make a contest out of his insanity!
Five links on our Teen Page have been cornified. That means that instead of the link working properly, unicorns and rainbows will randomly appear on the page. They look much like these:
So, your goal is to search through every link on the Library's Teen Page and find the 5 cornified links. Then, post a comment on this blog entry with your name, e-mail or MySpace address, and the 5 links where you found the cornification. We will have a random drawing from among all the correct answers on August 14th. The winner will receive a $50 Best Buy Gift Card, courtesy of the Friends of the Library. Don't share the answers with others, or you reduce your chances of winning. Good luck and happy unicorn searching!
Ice Cream - yummy. Join us for another great SRC event at LOL to watch a flick and build your own ice cream sundaes from among our many flavors of ice cream and a massive collection of toppings. What could be better? Movie title TBA.
Sure, Battleship is a fun game when played on a tabletop. Wouldn't it be better, though, to play on a life-sized board, with human pieces and giant rubber balls as missiles? We think so too! Join us for the second in our series of live-action boardgames.
Friday, July 10th from 6:00-9:00pm.
Free snacks and drinks.
