Teen Creativity - We have it at the New River Library!
Our teens designed and painted this guitar last summer to support the "Battle of the Bands" project. Our next project is decorating two new wooden chairs for the Teen area. Want to show off your artistic talent? Come to New River Library Thursday, June 25th, at 6pm and help us decorate a real guitar. This guitar will be raffled off later this summer to raise money for next year's "Battle of the Bands". We will also be creating coffee art, decorating guitar picks, and creating a mystery sculpture. Also, refreshments will be served.

TEENS! Help us finish painting the guitar we started last week. We'll be painting a zebra design on the back. One of our teens came up with this zebra design, and there is a hidden zebra in the painting. Oh, don't forget about the altered book. We've already cut out a box, from pages of the book. You can paint and finish the box, and there will be trinkets and found art available so you can design multiple pages.

The Hugh Embry Library needs at least five teen artists to design our own sample guitars for our first Summer Reading Club program. We'll be meeting TODAY at 4:oopm and we have ALL the necessary supplies for you to use. If you want to get here early, that's great! The more the merrier. Just show up!
This guitar art activity will be part of a huge program on June 10th. Our own Paul Stonebridge from the Land O' Lakes Library will be here on that day at the Hugh Embry Library. He'll bring a real sanded and base-coat painted guitar, so we can dive right in! Once we create this piece of playable art, it will be put on display for the rest of the summer. Then, it will be raffled off to raise money for next year's Battle of the Bands at Crews Lake Park. YES YOU CAN WIN THIS GUITAR!
If today is not a good day for you, please contact Suzanne at Hugh Embry and let her know what day you can come. We'd like to have at least two or three different designs to choose from. So, as many participating Hugh Embry teens as possible should work on this project. Bring your friends if you can and come design a sample guitar!
